  1. O7 VTX, never an issue, other than having to replace the coupler bolts on the drive shaft. Yesterday, it just stopped going into gear. It was sudden, no slipping under load. I have checked the drive shaft coupler bolts, all 4 are there and tight. I have checked the cable, even unhooked it and shifted manually, still no gear. I hear some noise when I put it in gear, but it's not horrible. The noise sounds like it's in the v-drive, not in the trans, but it's hard to tell for sure. The noise is different in forward than in reverse, so I think that the trans is engaging. I don't see the drive shaft even trying to turn. What else can I look at. Is the a shear pin in the v-drive? A key of some sort on the output connecting plate? Help, I'm in the middle of my vacation. I think I have enough tools to pull the v-drive unit, but not sure what to look for.
  2. I'd like to change my transmission / v-drive before I start the season. I'm comfortable changing the oil, but having an issue determining what exactly I need to do. I'm confused as to when I look at the v-drive, I see two dip sticks. But do they each take different types of ATF? Here's a photo... And yeah, it's dirty, I know. Any tips on how I could clean this area up?
