  1. Yesterday it finally happened...we hit something in the lake. We have a 2002 Sunsetter on the diamond hull running a standard ACME 541 prop. We were barely moving but in gear and struck something underwater - likely a piece of submerged concrete wall near the boat ramp. It bend around 3/4" of one blade pretty good so I have a couple questions.... 1. Which prop do I replace it with? ACME says a 475 will give a better/softer wake for skiing and I would love to tame the rooster tail just a bit - has anyone tried this switch from a 515 to 475 and what was their result? 2. The boat makes a whining noise in gear now - the shaft rotates about like it did before and doesn't seem to have any tightness or different feel - should I pull the shaft and have it checked? Who can check for a bend propshaft? 3. In my research I have found that you have to drop the rudder to pull the shaft - If I end up going that route - how hard it this to do? The rudder seems to be buried under the fuel tank and the far rear so what is the easiest way to access it? At least it's October and not July but I was hoping for another week or 2 of skiing before winterization time. Thanks for your help!
  2. How can I find the stock propeller that came on my boat, 2014 Wakesetter 247 LSV, 450 Monsoon Motor?
  3. Thank you for clicking on yet another prop topic. I did actually search before starting this and either my search skills are horrible or I am actually asking something new here. Quick back story. Way back in the day I worked with Eric from OJ on selecting a prop for my MasterCraft Prostar. He set me up with a great prop for that boat and I have loved it for the 10 years I have run it. Since I just acquired a new to me 2016 T23 I went back to Eric asking about this boat. Currently I have a ACME 1235 on there and I have not been impressed. He recommended the 950-MF 15 x 13 LH and said that he specifically designed this prop for the 2016 - 2018 Malibu/Axis boats. In searching I have not found any mention of the 950-MF on any of the countless Prop threads. So I am looking for someone out there in the wild that is running this prop and can feedback as to what they think about it. I trust Eric because he didn't steer me wrong the last time I worked with him so I am ready to pull the trigger but hoping to find someone else out there spinning that screw. If I would have just looked at OJ's web site and the recommendations on there I most likely would have gone with the 1951. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  4. Is there anyone out there running a 15.5 inch prop on a 2016 to 2018 23 foot boat? I am not near my boat to measure and see if there is clearance for a prop that size.
  5. Hey crew, I am looking at a 2004 Sunscape that looks to be in good condition, is priced well, and is somewhat close to me. In one of the pictures that I have seen it looks like the prop has a bent blade, not like a rock/ground/log hit, but more like a true bend. I had a good conversation with the owner, and also the marina that has maintained the boat, and both say it is in good condition (the owner disclosed a few things he knew were "shortcomings". If I were to guess the prop is original, and my concern is if they have been running with a bent prop blade for an extended period of time there could be v-drive/transmissions errors down the line, and those bad boys ain't cheap. from reading previous articles it looks like i should be able to spin the prop/shaft and see if the shaft is bent, and give it a wiggle test. I am hoping to head up and look at it this weekend, so anything else to look for to reduce the possibility a 5-7K trip to the dealership? Am I over thinking this and Walter's V-Drive is pretty bomb proof? Thanks!
  6. I have a 1990 Malibu Skier. I had the misfortune of hitting a rock last weekend and trashed the prop, ripped the rudder off and bent the drive shaft. I am trying to find replacement parts. My local Malibu dealer told me I am SOL. Does anyone have any input on whether or not OEM parts are still available for this boat. Are there parts off of similar models that would be compatible, etc?
  7. As the title says, I bought a New Acme 515 prop for my 1994 Flightcraft Sportster, The old Mr. Minus 13x13.5 has a few nicks where we dragged over some rocks in a shallow spot, so I wanted to get it cleaned up and balanced. I bought the Acme Weekend saver kit which has the C-clamp Prop Puller, and I have tried Everything to get the prop free. As far as I can tell this Prop has probably been on there since it was new or close to it. I loosened the Nut 2 turns, and the applied force with the puller, then cranked on the puller as much as I could with a wrench..Nothing. I've tried hitting the back of the puller to get some harmonics going, Tried heating up the prop with a torch, paying attention to the prop strut temp, and tried oiling around the key way. I'm at a loss Trying to get this new prop on as its better than the current one. Thanks Guys,
  8. Hey Team - looking to change props to improve performance and manage surfing a little more easily. Here's what I'm running: 2014 Axis T22, Monsoon 330 currently running 1235 prop Ballast setup: Stock hard tanks, Wake Makers dual rear 900's, bow sack 400. (we don't always max the weight out depending on the size of the crew and how the wake it looking) Manual Wedge: down Low Elevation: 1500 ft about sea level. We MOSTLY surf but don't want to completely loose all top speed. So far the recommendations have said: Acme 2315 (wakemakers), Acme 2937 (Acme's website), OJ 905-MF (My boat mechanic).
  9. Hi all, I’m new to Malibu Crew. From what I’m seeing, you might be able to help. I recently hit my lift while reversing out of the lift. The prop got dinged up in the accident. When I went to take off the prop, the prop and shaft will spin independently. Did I mess up the whole shaft? Or do you think it’s just how the prop connects to the shaft? The weird part is when I was turning on the lock nut to get the prop off, the whole shaft would spin. Because of this, I can not get my prop off. Do you all have any thoughts?
  10. Greetings all, I recently had an accident with my boat where a brutal storm almost sunk my boat. Thank God it sunk near a shore where it was retrievable. I'm in the process of repairing the damage. I was able to crank the engine up. Now I'm repairing the cosmetics and external damages. The boat was laying on the bottom of the lake, so most of the weight was on the propeller. I recently had the propeller repaired. Looks great. I took out it out for a test drive and notice a lot of vibrations on the boat. I'm guessing the shaft was bent. But I also notice that the boat prevented me from accelerating faster speeds. I know that there is a sensor that slows down the boat if services is needed. But I didn't know it was able to read the damage of the shaft. OR am I missing something else? Is the sensor indicating that something else is wrong, other than the shaft? So, I'm in the process of replacing the shaft. Please let me know what else I should replace or look into. Any info is greatly appreciated.
