  1. Just picked up my 2016 23 lsv a couple weeks ago and one of the factory underwater lights flickers so i figured it would be a good time for an upgrade. But what is everyone using to replace the factory lights? I see a bunch of guys recommend the Water Dragon (new malibu) light but the screw holes are of by about a 1/2". Does everyone just drill into the hull to make new lights work or is there a direct replacement option? Thank you in advance
  2. Got a question: I was wondering if anyone out there towed their LSV, or VTX with the Illusion G3.5 tower fully lowered.
  3. My 2008 Sunscape LSV has a loose arm rest where the throttle is I can see where the screws pulled loos from the backing block but can’t figure out how to disassemble/reassemble it - any thoughts, ideas or experience with this and I would very grateful 🙏
  4. Happy New Year time to get to work on the boat. I had a weird "stiff spot or break over spot" on my 2008 Wakesetter LSV 247. I was going to just change the cable but I notices play on the back side of he column, so I took it out. Is the steering wheel shaft itself supposed to be firm-ish. It does not grind or bind but is is stiffer than I expected. Bakes has a whole new unit for about $200 so should I just do the swap and maybe the rack too with the cable? I assume I can't get that shaft and press the bearing out easily?
  5. I am a first time Malibu buyer that is in the market for a used LSV. I have spent some time on my friend’s 2015 23 LSV which really bit me with the surf bug. They said they have surfed all different brands and like the Malibu best so I am trusting in their experience. I would love it if someone could point me at resources that lay out the important differences between the years 2015+ and the important options that I should make sure I find in the boat I buy. I will be running only in fresh water at near 0 elevation. I want to spend as little as possible (of course), but I am willing to pay for important features. I like the idea of a boat I can keep for 10 years if well maintained and stored. Also, any advice/resources on how to buy a used boat from a process point of view or gotchas that will help me weed out a mistake would be awesome Excited to be a more active member of this community Nate
  6. Hi All, First time poster here and interested in buying a used Wakesetter 23 LSV as my first wakesurf boat. I'm interested in buying one that has a control system that is touch screen, and looks to be that 2015 is the first year that was incorporated. Can anybody confirm? Are the big updates on the control system after 2015 that would warrant buying a more recent model? Thanks!

    2019 22 LSV

Hello, I am going to demo a 2019 22 LSV tomorrow. I was wondering if Anyone has heard of any issues with this boat as far as maintenance, functionality or wake? It has the 409 motor. how does the surf wave compare to a 23 LSV or respective MXZ? Is it better for surfing or wakeboarding? Any opinions or experience with this boat would be great! thanks
  8. I’m posting this in case it helps anyone else. We live at about 4,000 feet elevation, and we bought a 2019 23 LSV that came with the Acme 2419 prop. We were having trouble keeping speed with full ballast (including two rear pnp bags). I called Acme and ended up switching to the 3093, and the difference has been very noticeable. We can now keep surf speed with full ballast, and the wave is much better in general. I was hesitant to make the switch, but I have no regrets. Note: we don’t do any skiing, so I can’t really comment on loss of top speed.
  9. Here are the part numbers for the rear transom action camera mount on a Malibu. I have placed an order and will post some pictures after I received the mounting hardware. www.bigskyprecision.com BSPA-1095 1/2" universal mount with 1" ram ball or BSPA-1244 1/2" universal mount with GoPro swivel buckle

    Deciding new model

Have started researching for next years upgrade. Currently own a 17 22mxz and love the boat, but don’t want to own it out of warranty. That all being said, saw that they have added a 23 mxz to the lineup while keeping the 22 mxz. Does anyone have any insight as to why? will they eliminate the 22mxz in the near future? I recall when I first was looking in 2016 that Malibu had a 20’ mxz which only lasted a few years before being discontinued. Wife and I also want to surf behind a 23 LSV for wake comparison, but saw that they added a 22 LSV. Any inside info from someone that works for or in Malibu would be extremely appreciated. And if your feeling up for it - Wet Sounds or JL for tower speakers and sub ? TIA from New England.
  11. I believe the 2020 23 LSV has carpet lined storage under the seats. Does the option below eliminate the carpet? To me, it seems spendy to check this box at $1500. Thoughts? INTERNAL STORAGE LINERS, SOFT GRIP
  12. I have a 2000 Malibu LSV Escape. I bought it last year and it came with a cover. The cover doesn't look original and is in two pieces. One piece covers the bow and the other piece covers the windshield and everything back to the stern. The cover attaches via snaps. The cover itself is canvas and seems somewhat waterproof. That said, even if it were completely waterproof, the shape over the cover wouldn't prevent water from entering the boat. Anything that lands on the windshield will go right under the bow cover. I've seen other boats that have covers that wrap underneath the bow and seem like they would keep the rain out. I'm getting mildew inside my boat and need to solve this. For outside storage, how do I keep the rain out? Also, bonus points if your solution works for snow also. (I'm in Utah and have been paying to have my boat shrink wrapped in the winter).
  13. Sorry for yet another “help me choose my boat” post, but this one is tricky for me. I have not been in the water in a long time, and just bought a house on a lake. I used to wakeboard growing up behind anything I could, and looking to also start again as well as begin wake surfing. My wife Did not grow up on water, so doesn’t really care, other than having it be a good reliable, long lasting family boat within our budget ($30k..ish). We have 2 small children with cousins that will be coming over. So I have concerns about size on the VRide. So the options are a 2005 Wakesetter 23 LSV with just over 500 hrs. Nothing really seems updates except an extra 750 fat sac. Good condition, no big tears or seam rips, Gel Coat is supposedly in good condition. Tandem axel trailer. This is Not from a dealer, but an individual that is 3.5 hrs away. Price is $35k, which is actually a little over budget. I would have to get local marina to do any testing (I.e compression) We don’t have a truck, so I would have to rent one. The second option is an ‘08 VRide. Has the tower, manual wedge, two 200lb and one 500lb ballast. This is from a dealer about 2 hrs away, who is willing to deliver. They are running through the boat, replacing some things like Ballast pumps, did compression testing, cleaning, etc. pretty good condition, with a little dock rash, a small split in a seam, new custom cover and Bimini, also mid 500 hr range. Price $31k.

    Add ons add value?

Hi there, Looking at purchasing a used LSV 23 most likely around 07-10. Specifically found a 2007 LSV 23 with a hammerhead and some nice add-ones like surf gate, additional plumbed in 1800lbs of ballast, fresh air exhaust and wetsound speakers. My question being is do boats appreciate with such upgrades beyond book? I know in a car putting additional motor upgrades or accessories may add a tiny bit of value, but nothing significant or way over book. They are roughly 7k over book at high retail and wanna make a good decision. Any insight is much appreciated! Cheers!
  15. So I’m looking to buy my first boat. Have had Jet Skis for years and feel my growing family would get more out of a boat now. I have been looking at what is in my price range so 2012-2016 LSV or MXZ. Probably a 23 or 24’ model. I’ve seen there are different engine sizes (350, 409, Corvette, Ford Raptor 6.7 and a Cadillac Super charged engine). Any advice on what years were best? What to keep away from? I’ll be out on the water with the Wife, 2 daughters, and our Lab. Thanks in advance for the input. I want to make a informed and smart decision since I’ll be keeping this boat for years.
