  1. I am new to The Crew, and just brought home a 99 SSLXi a few months ago. I immediately noticed the bilge was running way too often, so i dug in and found a leak next to the rudder box. Water is pouring in the boat. I dont see any major issues underneath the boat next to the rudder, but i clearly see cracks next to the box on the inside the boat. The rudder shaft/packing assembly is not leaking at the bolts or the shaft, rather its the black fiberglass are that is sunk around the box and has visible cracks. The area doesnt look pretty as-is, black resin rough surface, sunken around the rudder box. Any help or recommendations to fix this would be greatly appreciated! Do i need to fix fiberglass on the hull or outside of the boat? Can i use some type of sealant at the crack only? TIA
  2. https://imgur.com/gallery/pHtcCTM Hi Everyone, Im new Malibu boats and buying my first one soon hopefully. I went to look at one and found it to be in ok condition needs mostly cosmetic work from what I’m seeing but I think the hull is getting blisters. I’ve attached the pictures and it seems to start at the water line and is sporadic but I found it near the bow and further down the hull. Can you tell me of this is ok, or doesn’t this need repair and if so is it more immediate or something to look down the road. If you know roughly the cost the would be amazing or a range but I understand. I appreciate any help! I really want to make sure I don’t get burned buying a boat or one that needs more work then I want or can afford to put in.

    Hull Blistering

Hey guys, I have a question regarding hull blistering. I pulled my boat last week for the winter and noticed quite a bit of blistering. I purchased the boat at the start of this season and did noticed these blisters but didn't let it get to me. Now that iv spent more time around the boat its starting to dawn on me maybe I should look into this a little deeper. My question is, Should I be concerned about this issue, should I do something about it or should I just turn my head and enjoy the boat? I absolutely love the boat, but it worth me spending more money on the boat having this issue? I was planning on putting a new interior, new sound system and just "resorting the boat". Thanks alot guys, and sorry i couldnt figure out posting images so you'll have to refer to the link blow for a few photos of the hull. https://jdoidge92.imgbb.com/ - (also I haven't cleaned the hull yet as the boats been sitting in a lake for 3-4 months)
  4. Hey gang, first time poster. I have a 2000 Malibu Sunsetter VLX with some cracks around the swim step platform mounts. Looking for advice or opinions....I know stress cracks form around points like this but how much is trouble? When does it need repair? I've tried to link a URL for the picture but have had some difficulties so here is a link to a picture of the cracks: https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/2tveerxWTbaUkaRQyDsHaw.JHOxVWXRtvR0STb_i03d-E
  5. Front tracking fin broke off when my son ran boat on trailer with water in boat. My question is: Did Malibu install nut plates in hull within fiberglass for the tracking fin bolts to screw into or does the bolt screw into the fiberglass? Other posts not clear on my 1998 Repsonse LX. Also, specific hardware p/n's or where to source would be helpful. P.S. i'd prefer not to remove middle tracking fin to see how it's mounted. I sealed holes on front tracking fin so I can continue to use boat. Thanks!
