  1. Hey guys, another dude asking cooling questions. This is for the stock 5.7 carb motor. Does anyone have the part numbers for the 160 thermostat and all gasket sets required? I have a small leak at the thermostat housing. Secondly I've had this cooling issue for 2 years now and it's time to solve it for good. Temp rises to 160 at normal pace, then bounces around high and back to 160 quickly, almost like it's a ground issue or something. I need to start going through the whole system to find the culprit (assuming it's not the thermostat). I replaced the raw water pump last year, didn't solve it. From what I've read I need to check the temp sensor, all ground wires, and maybe even the circulation pump? I don't know anything about the circ pump. Please help wise ones.
  2. Indmar monsoon 350 5.7 overheating. I can see no suction and no water through clear plastic flush pro valve. New raw water pump w new impeller, checked oil cooler little inlet screen, fresh water flush cap on back screwed on tight, inlet grill and hose is clear coming from bottom of hull. Thermostat looked a little stiff so i removed for troubleshooting. Not getting any water flow. Fresh water hose connected seems to work fine and engine stays cool... but probably working because of hose water pressure.
  3. Hey guys, I recently got a 99 sportster with the 5.7 carb. engine. I was draining the water for winter and the plug on the port side of the block had a lot of metal flakes attached to it. Does the indmar 5.7 310hp engine have an internal water pump as well or is that just passageway deterioration? I have had issues with cooling this first year with the boat but I attributed it to a bad gauge or sensor. The raw water pump and impeller were replaced in the spring. Thoughts?
  4. Hey guys! I have a quick question regarding the cooling system on my '94 echelon. il give you the back story first... So last weekend I bought my first boat, took it for a test drive and everything ran beautifully. I took it home, buffed the hall and tidied up some electrical over that week. The following weekend I took it out for my first time as a new boat owner. She was running a little rough (I realize now I wasn't giving the boat enough throttle/ fuel) Anyways took it for a quick loop to warm it up (about 1-2 minutes) and a alarm started going off, turns out the impeller went and no water was circulating through the system. Temps got to about 230+ before I released. (again new boat owner so this was all new to me). I shut the motor off to let the motor cool down and slowly limped the boat back in in short intervals to let it cool down. When I got back to the house I took most of the cooling system apart (hoses) and found what I think is 98% of the grenaded impeller packed in on the cooled side of the heat exchanger. Well I'm at it i'm going to change out the thermostat as a maintenance routine so I know when it was last done (this is where one of my questions comes in below). So thats the back story of all this. here's the question! - First do you guys thing I should be worried about anything running the motor that hot? (please say no so I can sleep at night) - I changed to the thermostat well replacing the impeller and noticed under the T-stat was bone dry, Should I dump a bucket of water down there to "prime" the system before testing the system? Any other tips/ tricks you might has i'm all ears! Thanks so much for the help!
