  1. Hello, first post here. I so appreciate this group. I am looking to the hive mind for thoughts on my recent boat troubles. I have a 2020 25LSV with now 157 hours. It has the M6di engine. First off, I want to say that this boat is wonderful and I love it. My dealer, TX Malibu has been very attentive with scheduled service and the most recent overheating episode. I am not here to complain, but rather see if anyone has experienced the same situation or has ideas on something I can do myself. As an aside, I do not trailer, boat is at a marina on a lift. I had trailers with 2 previous boats and with the charge for the storage, lack of use, etc, I decided from a hassle/money standpoint if I needed to have the boat trailered somewhere it was worth renting trailer or paying someone to do it. On Tuesday last week, at 154 hours, the engine overheated to about 218 degrees. We checked the sea strainer and it was empty, I called service dept and they suggested it was probably impeller. I had smelled burning rubber as soon as I got pulled up for surfing. I had been reading the woes of others all summer, but I suspect because I had scheduled services on the earlier side of things I had prevented this issue. Service came out and replaced impeller and to my knowledge installed a check valve. Boat worked great Friday for about 20 minutes, and then I noted an occasional "slip" upon acceleration that once caused the boat to go into limp mode. Engine temp fine, oil pressure fine, etc. I used the boat on Saturday and basically could get one tow in after a complete start/reset but then second or third pull the boat would go into limp mode. No engine alarms at all. I did drain 25% of ballast all around (only 2 people aboard with one surfer) and it worked for several pulls but then the problem recurred. Engine diagnostics show inactive engine alarm: SPN 7717 FMI 7 Description: Camshaft control lost I am not an engine gal, but I can understand what major parts are meant to do. When I look up camshaft sensor error for cars, the description is almost identical to what was happening with my boat. So, is it possible that the camshaft sensor got moved/knocked loose with the impeller replacement and it would be a simple fix? Has anyone else had this happen? Any ideas/thoughts/speculation is welcome. Thanks for your time and consideration.
  2. So just kicking off this thread for posterity. For starters I have just about everything in from Earmark and the stuff from my old boat ready to go. Big shout out to @Earmark Marine! As always Odin is amazing. If y’all didn’t know this is the last few days of the group buy. So hurry up and don’t miss 20% off and free shipping. My goal like my last boat is to be active DSP on each speaker in the boat. So two of the new JL MV800/8i amps replace my old TWK88 DSPs. They’ll be bridged to give me 8x 200W outputs to the cabin speakers. Stock Wetsounds coaxials. I will have the same SDX2 driving my two pair of JL M880ETX tower speakers mounted over the bimini. I will have a new SDX2 driving two JL 12W6 subs. One in a ported box in the helm. The other in a ported box under the seats. And of course the Fusion Apollo headunit moves into the new build from the old driving it all. I’ll keep the factory black box wired in as an alternate input to the DSPs but I honestly don’t expect to ever use it just like last time.
  3. I currently have a supercharged 23 LSV and we have it pretty well dialed in but thinking about getting the 2020 25 LSV. Is the surf wave worth the extra money?
  4. Long post, maybe redundant, but here goes, Thanks in advance. We have been looking at a lot of boats lately, all new..er.... and the budget has crept up badly as well, from 75 to ????? yeah that bad. We started looking for a 23 LSV, we are a family of 6, oldest kid is in college, youngest is 12. We need more space than in out VTX, and have been surfing as of late. Prior to our VTX, we had a 02 23 LSV. We found some nice 18 and 19 23 LSV's, seen here Then, we had a rather rough day on the lake (had to abort anything fun) due to the wind picking up swiftly, rather than a quick run over to a restaurant, we slogged for an hour to get home after deciding the weather might be too much. So my wonderful wife said, that's it, lets just get the 25. After squealing with joy on the inside, i agreed, and we started looking. So now we need to know the big differences between the recent years. We are only looking at 2017 and newer 23's and 25's, though we did take a 24 MXZ out yesterday. So I haven't followed the recent changes well, and don't want to get lost the weeds, but need help with the big changes that happened in the last few years, like how the engine angle was changed for 2017 in the 25 to accommodate a bigger prop. So here are the short list i can come up with now: I know the interior changed significantly, I miss the soft rounded corners, but like the new driver's chair for 2019. What else? Engine changes a plenty, but all seem solid currently, what is most important? Hull changes? surf gate actuators, when did they go hydraulic, and is everyone seeing a lot of corrosion if you leave it in the lake (we do leave in the lake now, but plan on a new lift for whatever we get), we looked at a 25LSV yesterday adn were astounded by the level of corrosion evident on a 2019. Biggest Question: My 13 yo son said the wave behind our VTX had way more push than the 24 MXZ we were on yesterday, especially further back, which makes me wonder how much extra ballast we need in a new one? As a reference we run all 4 stock tanks full, 400's in rear lockers and an 800 in the walkway with a Nauticurl on our 2011 VTX, and it works pretty good, but my wife is all set with walkway bags, pumps over the side, and suck gates. So please what are the biggest, most important changes in the 23 and 25 since 2017?
