  1. hello Malibu crew, The seat of my wake tower on the driver side seems to have shifted and it's affecting my tower locks and Bimini bar sliders, they are so difficult to lock and extend. Has anybody run into this before and fixed on their own through loosening and tightening screws, or is this an issue I have to get serviced in my local dealer? for what it’s worth, I have no idea how this happened. I’m assuming I missed it during the walk-through when I purchased and the seller did not disclose. in that case, if anybody believes they have an opinion how this could happened, do you think it could’ve been hit, and how concerned do I need to be about the gelcoat stress fractures around the base of the tower? thanks all, I’m not too well-versed on the history, maintaining’s and the mechanics of this boat yet so any feedback is appreciated
  2. My break in hours are done and we had enough time after work tonight for a quick run to try out the wave. I'm always jealous of the goofy side so I'm playing with some lead this year to see how much I can shape the regular side. I still need to dial in my setup a bit more to see what it can do but I thought tonight's setup was already pretty good. Boat is a 2019 23 LSV with the PCM 6.0, 2277 prop and 580 PNPs. All stock and PNP ballast were full, with 300 lbs of lead (150 in the observer's compartment, and 150 in the port storage just aft of the observer's seat). Speed was 11.0 with 4 clicks of PW3 from Lift,. RPM's were 3,200-3,300, which was right around what I was hoping to see (and I think that's just awesome in this boat!). Tons of throttle left too. I surfed a buddy's new 2019 25 LSV on Saturday, and didn't feel like I was taking a big step back tonight with this 23's setup. The extra lead on the port side gave the 23 enough list to steepen up the wave more than I was used to on my 2018, so I'm sticking with the lead this year. Sorry, no goofy wave pics tonight. We see enough of those.
  3. Just bought a 2019 Axis A20 with the base stereo option. Looking to add bow speakers and possibly a sub. Are the bow speakers pre-wired and powered by the control box? Where can I buy the OEM speakers to match the four in the main cabin? Will I need the dealer to flash anything to get them to work? Since I just bought a new boat, I'm trying to keep the budget down. I want to keep OEM functionality/beeps and not looking to go crazy loud anyway. I know I won't be able to hear it behind the boat while I ride without towers but that's fine. I live near and ride mostly on a smaller lake. Not trying to rock the whole lake with 1000watt tower speaker and be "that guy" raging tunes and sending rollers into peoples' docks. Just looking for a little more sound at the front of the boat and bass to fill out the low range while we hang out between rides. Basically trying to get to SP2 without the towers. Anticipating I will need an amp for the sub but trying to learn what I can about the current wiring setup without having to dig around and dismantle my brand new boat. Assuming the factory unit is standard 4 channels? By the way the current unit balances/fades and lack of power I'm assuming that currently the four rear speakers are being driven by the two rear channels, hoping that leaves two channels to drive the fronts? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Tower Speaker Box Build

I finally got around to organizing some pictures from summer 2019 and wanted to share this project. It sucks how low the tower crossbar is on the 2019 A22, but it's what I got and what I had to work with. I'm only 5'10", but there was NO WAY I was hanging a box off the bottom of the tower as I did in my previous boat. Adding a box on top of the tower IMHO looks silly. So this positioning was a no brainer, but it meant 2 boxes, and double the work. I started with simple templates to see how it would size up on the tower. I used one of the mounting holes for the upper board racks as the main attachment point to build around. I'm using (4) 6.5" speakers as I have done in previous builds. Once I got the general angles set, I cut up the wood and started piecing it together. Wrapped in fleece to get the general shape, then glassed the boxes and sanded them down. I honestly was NOT planning to make these look pretty. The Goal here was to make some functional boxes and to blend them into the tower so they do not draw attention. This was also a concept, just to see if this would work and didn't look like two turds. As it turns out, they came out really good and sound great for the limited amount of time I have put into them. So I finished up the sanding, painted them flat black as close to matched the tower as possible. Mounted the speakers, ran the wiring thru the tower and done! Sadly I don't seem to have a pic with the speakers installed. Doh! Where there's a will, there's a way! I have a lot more pics if anyone is interested. Happy Building! MWNT

    2020 MXZ

This is a discussion space for owners of Malibu MXZ's to share thoughts on general topics and help each other better understand the inner workings of the boat, both off the line and aftermarket. To kick this thread off with a topic has anyone been battling with installing their own transom lighting? If so do you think it would be more cost efficient to have the feature added to the purchase package or added aftermarket, from what I've found (light searching) lighting can cost between $50-600's.
  6. I am looking to purchase a used wakesetter. Can anyone tell me the major differences between the 2016 LSV and the 2019 LSV? Hull, engine, torque, design, etc? Thanks. Matt
  7. I've been looking for a way to change/calibrate the water temperature on my 2019 23' LSV. There is no way to calibrate it, apparently it should be reading correctly. My air temperature is calibrated relatively accurately but the water temp is way off. Malibu responded by saying I should disconnect the transducer and only use the paddle wheel. The paddle wheel should pick up the temperature. I guess this means the transducer is not functioning correctly. Anyone have this issue? Also, why can't you get answers from the dealers or service techs? They look at you like you have 3 heads.
