Manual Wedge

Maybe a dumb question...however, I just bought a 06 Ride XTi with the manual wedge. It has the two settings, either raised or down. Now the dumb ? Is it the down position that creates the larger wake? This is my first Malibu...so lots to learn...Thanks

Down postion = rampier wake or you could say larger

First Yes down is a little steeper of wake, but I personally don't use it because I like the shape and handling of the ballast tanks inside the boat. JMO! Just remember even though having the ballast or wedge down it will kill your gas.

JDW, if you use the wedge (lower it), make sure you raise it back up before going faster than "wakeboard speed."

my new Malibu has the manual and i forgot to raise it and went about 27 mph to get to the calm water about one mile away. no damage done. i think there is a photo out there of one that broke at the wedge side, not bracket attached to boat.

If you are new to wakeboarding, you won't need the wedge until you are comfortable jumping the wake. Putting the wedge down before you can jump the wake easily will hinder your progress as the wake shape is more advanced (ie. steeper for more vertical pop with less rampiness to get you across the wake).
