Waterski in Australia

Red Legend

Recommended Posts

Next winter, I am going to spend 2 months in Surfers Paradise, QLD, Australia.

Does anyone know any waterski club in the area?

Thanks.

Red Legend,

Not sure about the Gold Coast but the University of Queensland has a club on the Brisbane River that you can join and ride with if you are a student...

There is also a Brisbane Water Ski School on the Brisbane River at Jindalee...

I will try and get a website for you or just do a google search and see what you get.

Red Legend,

Graham is right, though there is 1 club here on the Gold Coast, they ski on a private lake & from what I've heard they not very freindly or inviting to outsiders. I live 10miles from Surfers & there is not alot of good ski areas / zones anyway, and all are salt water (even in Brisbane), we travel to Grafton 3 hrs away from Surfers to ski, there is some dams cose buy, Somerset, Moogerah, Maroon, but the dam levels are really low with the later 2 now closed to skiing, there is 2 cable ski parks, 1 at Logan about 40min north of Surfers (pretty crappy set up though) & 1 at Bli Bli about 1 1/2hrs north, (it's set up is ok,) But if you would like a decent ski I'm sure we can hook you up with our crew in Grafton or another crew at Somerset Dam, our local Malibu dealer here is would also help hook you up with a ski. Red, Have you got a VTX?? If so can you give me some feed back, I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, but hopefully it will be here in the next 3 weeks

Thanks for your feed-back!

we have the VTX with the Diamond Hull.

We think that the design is really excellent:

Slalom skiing is really good, but above 49 km/h (30 mph or 26.5 kt). At that speed, the wake really improves and is quite flat.

Wakeboarding is quite good. We have the Power Wedge, and with that, you can really shape the wake.

Surf is really good too, thanks to the Power Wedge and the ballasts. The boat produces a wake that is not the highest, but quite long.

We are more in the surf style rather thank the skim style, and thus for us perfect.

Hope this helps.

I think that you are really going to enjoy your boat!
