I just had my transmission blow, the details are on another thread. Anyway I was wondering what your rpm to speed ratio was at WOT. Mine was something like 5100 rpm and the speed was about 45 mph. As you can see we have a VTX and I realize that there would be several factors determining this like weight, however this is with no ballast and say 4 people in the boat. It seems like a may have had something wrong with the tranny from the get go.

I've got a VLX but mine was about the same 5100-5200 and around 43-46 depending on water conditions. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, will the dealer be able to fix it soon?

Yes!!!! Tilly's Marine is the best, they are getting me a new transmission and V-drive assembly. Should take about a week. Thumbup.gif

Glad you won't have much downtime. Must have been an issue with your tranny before, probably would have happened eventually, at least it happened before the season really started.

Top speed is a function of engine, prop, current, water conditions, and even wind. Most of it is the first two. My rev limiter is @ 5200ish rpms. My top speed varies from 41 - 47 depending on which prop I have on the boat. My first prop had a big pitch and it would move 46-47mph with crappy hole shot. My stock Acme537 and OJ475 move it around 43mph at the rev limiter. Higher pitch = higher top end and less hole shot, so the answer to your question is, it depends. Biggrin.gif

RPM and top speed sound well matched to me. It is even a well matched prop for your boat, getting you a tad over 5000 RPM. I don't think you will see any difference with your new trans. Keep us posted after the repair.
