Transducer/Depth Finder issue

Okay guys, I installed my depth finder exactly how my dealer told me to. However, I took boat out and all I get is .5 feet and the alarm goes off for being shallow.

Any ideas what I did wrong?

Thanks,

John

Other than a bad transducer, factors that influence a bad reading are air bubbles/pockets in the epoxy, placing directly over the keel (what little keel we do have) usually do to the thickest part of the hull, improper angle of the transducer, and/or anything that might interfere with a proper feedback reading.

Most of the time it best to test it out before attaching it with epoxy by taking the transducer and having water in the bilge while the boat is in the water, move it around and see where it gives you a good reading. In my 01, I installed it with silicone and it worked perfectly as another option.

I know you epoxied it but are you able to unattach it and try some other options?

I might have to remove and use some silicone. I may have gotten air in the epoxy and was warned this could be a problem. Thanks for the help.
