Dr. Jim

Curious as to what everyone's thoughts are on Dr. Jim from some people that are a bit more level-headed. If you look at the discussions on SkiFly there are some nasty comments from people that are a bit out of touch in my mind.

My take is that whether he does well or not, the Malibu Open this year is probably one of the most anticipated tournaments ever and whether you think Dr. Jim will do well or not, it's gotta be good for the sport itself.

Did he buy his way in? I don't think so. Even if he did "trade" his site for entry, the fact of the matter is that it is one of the top sites in the world and is tailored to host a tournament of this magnitude.

What do you guys think?

Mike

I don't get why so many get their panties in a wad over Dr. Jim and him skiing the event.

1) if he isn't as good as most know he is, he'll be bumped out in an early round.

2) if he doesn't get bumped, maybe he deserves to be there :D

3) while the site isn't Trophy Lakes where it's open for anyone to rent / ski, his lake appears to be a world class facility. I see no issue with having it at his place...it's a much better choice than events I've watched like the rollers at Navy Pier.

I hope Dr Jim goes out and crushes em. I'm trying to convince the wife that we need to make the road trip up to WI for the weekend to witness first hand.

for anybody to start skiing at 34 and achieve his level at age 48 is nothing short of amazing and great for the sport period, end of story. I think he'll make a respectable showing, and he might attain greatness...no matter, he's a superb skier and nobody on SkiFly could hang with him.

Shocking.gif Don't tell them that. Most of those guys think that they're the second coming of Andy Mapple.

Dr. Jim's story is amazing. Nothing against Parrish but I hope Dr. Jim breaks his record. Just to stuff it at the nay-sayers. Biggrin.gif

I don't know anything about the story, except what you've tryped here. But I do love an underdog.

Love it when people with talent crush the nay sayers!

It took 8 years for CP to break the WR. I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

Getting outside the ball is one thing. Turning and getting back to score 1/2 bouy is the next step. It is possible, but not probable for Dr. Jim's big day

It will be very exciting to see how he does. He has done alot for the sport in the last few months. He is all everyone talks about. WSM and Schnitz cant get enough of him.

Most people, especially those of his status, dont go shooting their mouth in public unless they have some potential. He is a champion in everything he has ever done. I dont think he knows any differently.

this thread didn't age well.  And is @chathamsolutions still really paying Chief $ year after year?  Guy hasn't had a boat in forever.

Chathamsolutions was one of the people that started this site with the others and myself back in 2005. He’s always gonna be a Crew Chief.

I'm out of the loop, is there news on Dr. Jim?

no, just that folks, including myself, spoke kindly of him in this thread.  I went deep into the archives viewing my own posts from the past.  I was kindof a dummy in 2005... :)
