two speedometers

This is my first malibu boat, so Im not real familiar with the equipment. whats the purpose of having two speedometers? while im asking stupid questions what does the acc switch control ? I cant find anything it turns on.

Your speedo's work off pitot tubes attached to the stern which on occasion can snag debris. More or less either one is a back up to itself. The 'acc' switches are placed there when options aren't added at the factory that normally are controlled by that switch location. As it is, you can use them for anything you want to add and have it controlled at the dash.

I've seen as many as three speedo's in tournament boats. Two for the driver and one at the rear facing forward for the judge to see.

Add'l info, the two speedo's are a redundant system. The one that reads the higher speed is always the correct one (if properly calibrated) unless both have debris. Many weedy lakes clog the speedo's so not only do you monitor each of the two speedo's but track accuracy with the tachometer. New GPS based speedo's will eliminate the need for two speedo pickups. Also the paddlewheel pickup shows promise to be more consistent. Always check calibration to maintain accuracy. Calibrate the speedo using time through a course or with a GPS.
