Alarm beeping

Recommended Posts

i posted the RPM Gauge thread thinking it was causing the alarm to sound. after reading in the manual, me thinks, it is not related. the alarm sounds after i hit 3000rpms(digital) only under load. i know its not good to run that high of rpm's in the driveway but i was trying to replicate the alarm. i wasn't sucessfull. took it to the lake, alarm goes off. all gauges were reading fine. i let the boat cool down from 160, started it up ran it about 1200rpms back to 160, no problems. watched the oil pressure after i idled around the lake for a hour, pressure was good. stayed in the deep water, so i won't trip the depth alarm. when the boat was off played the radio for an hour, boat started right up. i am out of ideas. my Malibu dealer is over an hour away, i'm trying to fix this without going to the dealer. thanks for any and all help.

The transmission temp sender could be faulty. When my boat was new the beeper would go off at high speeds. I checked the fluid temp with an infra red thermometer and found fluid temp was fine. Changed the sensor and have never had a problem since.

i pulled off the cooler and had a small leaf stuck in it. i plan on taking the trans. lines off as well. this work thing is getting in the way today, so it will be a job for tomorrow.

I only know of three things that trigger an alarm; water temp, oil pressure and trans temp. The ECM might also set an alarm if there is a trouble code with the engine caused by a faulty sensor or control device, much like a check engine light on a car. But this I am not sure about.
