Swim platform?

How do you folks who remove your platforms for the winter store them? I've tried different ways of storing it and it is always hard to put back on the boat in the spring. Nothing wants to line up as if the platform warped. It's not much, but you all know how precise the fit is. Any thoughts.

I keep my boat in the garage with the platform off and stored under the boat. I've had both teak and fiberglass platforms and I've never had any problem with warping or putting them back on in the spring. You could try to lube the pins up a little to make it easier for the platform to slide on.

Yep. A little wax on the contact surface of the bracket has her sliding right back on.

Never had a problem with mine. Although, I do store it in the piano/computer room, which is environmentally controlled to maintain constant temp and humidity.

Store mine in the basement and never had a problem. You might try loosening the screws that hold the brackets to the platform, then install on the posts and retighten the screws. Who knows, might just be enough slop to go from pain to pleasure.

After I remove mine for even a few hours to clean it up, if I don't hit the pins with some WD-40, it's a bear to reinstall.

I doubt it's warping or anything, just spray it with a little lube and you should find it much easier to reinstall.

electricjohn, is it possible that the top edge of the platform is hitting the transom as you angle the platform to put it on, keeping the brackets from going into place?

Not to sound ignorant but, I have kept mine on the back of the boat since I bought it. Is this a bad thing??? It comes off easy enough when I "treat" it in the spring and hasn't seemed to have warped at all.

I think the only reason most people remove them is for saving space in the garage.

Not no more, I had to move the platform out on braces about a half inch to to prevent that. Luckily they give you extra holes in the brace so I did not have to screw close to the old holes which I fill with resin.
