How many hours must I have on my boat before I can wakeboard? I have 6.5 now and I'm dying to wakeboard behind my boat.

Just fill the standard ballast and no extra, then go for it! The ballast and wedge is the best stock wake you can get! It's awesome with no added ballast. I rode mine after 5 hours cause you can ride at 4000 rpm or less.

This was based from my mechanic that replaced my engine a few years back. I asked him how long it would take to break in the engine and he said that it applied to the older engines, but the one rule that still applies even today was not to hold the same speeds for long periods of time and to keep altering the speeds up and down.

This mechanic is really an owner of a high end race boat shop that builds high performance engines. He said he never had time to build and break in each engine before races. That he would build the engine, put it on the dyno, install it, tune it again if necessary, take it out and run it wide open.

Pulling up a wakeboarder is an easy task for these engines and the speeds for wakeboarding are no where close to top end RPM's. So I am in the camp that now believes it is fines to take the boat out and use it, but just not hold the same speed for long periods and not hold it wide open for long periods.

Did ya' ever notice that folks worry about filling a couple of 250 lb tanks but will throw in ten people to show off the boat in the first 10 hours...
