Heater snorkel, plastic tube replacement?

I have a hose that has been kinked and is hard to feed back into the tube after use. I know how it is attached to the rear of the tube but can't tell how to release it from the pull out plastic grate on the front end. Has anyone replaced the plastic tube and know how to release it from front grate? Looks like it may be glued together???

The tube and the grate are not glued together. I ended up removing the tube from ours because it always interfered with the hose. I will admit, however, that the tube and grate felt like they were glued together....

Try twisting the grate while holding the tube underneath the dash. Ours took a bit of work but it came apart...

Good luck,

Mike

I am only trying to replace the slinky like plastic flexible 3" vent tube(has a kink where stepped on) and not the hard case that it stores in when not in use. Don't know how to disconnect it from the front grate that snaps back into the hard plastic case it stores in. Sounds like that is what you removed? Is that correct?

I talked to heatercraft today and they confirmed that the tube is glued into the grill. They are sending me a grill without tube attached so I can add my own length of tube and glue it myself.

After replacing my kinked hose, I can now reach anywhere in the boat with my new extended hose. It is about twice the length of the original. Heater craft came through and sent me a new grill and ring that were not glued so I could do it myself.
