Doug,

May be the nature of the poll as well. The question quite clearly limited the responses to tow boats. If people have owned multiple boats (I haven't) than how many of them have their first or even second boat as a tow boat by the definition in this poll?

I suspect you're right that this poll doesn't tell us a whole lot, but it is interesting.

1952 ? 14' wood 25hp twin Evinrude. My Uncles; boat. Learned to ski behind it a & my first year of boating on my own. (The boat originally had the steering on a console

between the front & rear wood bench seats. ) I used it in 1970, its last year of use.

1970 15' Starcraft Alum, 50HP Merc & Tee Nee trailer $1700.00! new as leftovers in 1970. My first vehicle pruchase! 1972

1972 Glastron V-173, Evinrude 125HP, & trailer. $2,500.00 ,one year used 1974. Sold two years ago.

1999 Response lx, 325 Monsoon, JVC, wedge, bimini (still never used) cover,SMP trailer $25,000.00! Took me 25 years of wanting a tournament boat to get there!

1965 Rinkerbuilt Outboard - 65hp outboard Mercury, no reverse, just a fiberglass shell with an engine and a steering wheel! I loved that POS but it was only good for tubing!! Bought for $150, put a couple thousand bucks of sweat equity in it, and sold it 3 years later for $600.

2006 Vride, bought in November 08', the jury is still out on this one!!

Family:

Some kind of crazy outboard that my dad got all drunk and sank one day. He did retrieve it and patch/reglass the hole (he let the patch dry as he was pulling it to Chelan for a week on the water. That man loved his water sports.......maybe didn't care too much about the kids though...well, guess he figured we were all strong enough swimmers ).

After that, grew up on an I/O Bayliner that I learned to waterski and kneeboard behind. I think it was 18'. Ran like crap as I recall. Mid 70s model.

My first boat was an outboard. A POS glastron. Then a '92 I/O SeaRay (which was a pretty good little boat, but I always skied/boarded behind my buddy's Sky Supreme), and now a '99 Sunsetter--which is such a nice ride. I've been in my fair share of boats, and I still just can't say enough about the sunsetter.

To add something to this when I went to purchase my first V-drive I was planning on purchasing an X-Star but the Mastercraft dealer treated my wife and I like we couldn't afford the boat, look how bad they screwed up!

Just a stupid guy. The best thing now is that you are already buying the best boat on the market.
