Response TXI. Mph at elevation vs at sea level

Recommended Posts

Hi all.  Question does elevation play big factor on top speed of boat?
I have 2015 response TXI with 409 PCM engine.
A guy I know has 2013 Response TXI with a monsoon 409.
we have same prop.  And he’s tried other props.
I get 53mph here in Midwest, I’m practically at sea level.
he is I think around 3,300 elevation and gets 46mph (I think that’s what he said).

thank you

Yes it does.  Those are great speeds.  I would expect a 2-4 mph drop at that elevation.

Yes, as air density decreases power follows.  Air density at 3000 ft is about 15% less than at sea level (without looking at the chart).
