Surfgate Sensor Fault

Recommended Posts

Starting getting an intermittent Right Surfgate Sensor fault.  My right gate is only open extending half way.  When I use the Debug screen, I can hear it stop running when gets to the half way spot, when it retracts it continues to run for 2-3 seconds.

it seems like it has lost its zero point

See if both actuators are moving at about the same speed using the surf gate service mode.  The relays are only energized for about 7 second to extend or retract the surf gate, so a slow running actuator may stop midway.  Damaged wires, loose/corroded electrical connections, or an internal failure can cause an actuator to run slow.

The surf gate reed sensor circuit is only closed when the actuator is fully retracted, so if it doesn't fully retract, or there is a problem with the circuit, then you will get an alarm and the surfgate will not function correctly.
