Oscillating oil pressure gauge Malibu Sportster 2003

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I own a 2003 Malibu Sportster with an Indmar 5.7L 310 Vortec engine. The oil pressure gauge oscillates when running. Sometimes it's below 40 psi. I'd like to know if you think this is really the engine's oil pressure, or if it's coming from the instrument? Sometimes the gauge shows a consistent value. Do you have any information on this?

What is also the engine's normal operating value? Oil pressure and engine temperature?

Thank you in advance.

I had the same thing. If you could see what the internals of the sender looks like it would make more sense, but replace it with a new part if it bugs you. Just be VERY GENTLE as the brass fittings break easily.
