2007 Malibu Wakesetter

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I have a 2007 Malibu with the 340 Monsoon.  I am battling a crank no start.  The TPS signal loss 5V reference is coming up instantly on my scan tool.  Every time I try to clear it, its instantly back.  The engine has a new ECU, New Throttle body, tried 2 different ones which this has the TPS built in. Ignition control module up high by the manifold, and crankshaft position sensor.  Still no avail.  New distributor cap and rotor.  Only last thing I can think of is the Pedal Position sensor behind the morse control box.  I did have a code for that, but once cleared hasn't shown back up.  Would this sensor cause the no-start?  I don't know what else to do, or check. looked for frayed wires, everything.  Can't see anything unusual.  Any help would be appreciated!

I've chased similar electrical issues that were the result of worn or damaged wiring harness pin or socket terminals in the connector plugs.  Make sure the male pins are not bent or corroded.  Pull on the connector wires to check for a bad crimps.  Remove the plastic retainer on the female harness plugs to inspect the sockets for corrosion or wear.  Worn socket contacts can be bent into place for a temporary fix, but replacing worn contacts is the best repair method.
