Like you.... I have found that if you have a "home-base" to work from, the combination of Towboat, Pontoon Boat, and Hobie-like Sailboat simply covers most water/wind conditions.

Ski when it's calm....... pontoon when it's time to tour or party, and Hobie when the wind picks up (or when gas prices go up to high). Rather than get frustrated with the prevailing weather conditions or busy-ness of the lake..... you just change venues, and go to a different water-craft.

Expensive..... not if you buy used..... not if you keep your eggs in many (older) baskets. Also, reduces the sting of any downtime when one is in the shop for repairs.

Again.... it needs a "home-base" for this strategy to work. You can't pull 3 trailers around very well.

The Rlxi; My 1970 Winner Cobra which I had since new and will not ever part with. It is a 14' 6", 100% fiberglass runabout which now has a 90 hp merc outboard on it. It started out with 65 hp of which we put 500 hours on in two years. We upgraded to a 115 in '72 when I learned to barefoot putting 2200 hours on that motor (2 rebuilds). After the 115 wore out I put the 90 hp on it in 1989. That motor has 950 hours on it. This is my salt water and out of season boat. Max hp is 80, but I never pushed the boat with the bigger motor on it, alway playing it safe. And a 17' aluminum canoe.

How about a wake comparison between the RLXi and the 94 Echelon? Slalom and barefooting would be the big question? Any other comparison info would be great also, likes and dislikes of each (although both great boats). Thanks in advance.
