engine overheating just one side

hello I have a problem with my malibu wakesetter vtx 20 2007 it overheats on only one side of the catalytic exhaust. It's a moonson 340 that it has in it I don't code the sparkplugs its new and also impaller .When I cruise it is correct but when you surf it strong and you can feel the paint burning on the exhaust, on one side only and the temperature remains at 160. if there is one that you have already seen this problem THANKS

Could be the insides of your manifold is shot.

Here is a thread on new manifolds.  They are pretty easy to pull off and you can inspect, but after 16 years pretty good chance they are.  I had the welded spots where they seal up the casting go out on mine, and had to have those spots replaced and rewelded, but the insides o f the manifolds were still ok.

I recall that the early catalyst models had an issue with that, especially when listed (leaned) to create a surf wave.  Indmar may have a replumb kit to provide better crossover flow to keep both manifolds cool.

I removed the filter cartridge from the manifold and I probably corrected my problem that the combustion did not come out of the manifold enough, which creates a lot of heat and my engine starts better since then too

That wasn't a filter, it was the catalyst.  If it were mine, I'd probably remove the other side as well.
