Can Wedge be Added to 2002 Wakesetter VLX After Boat Purchase

Have 2002 Wakesetter VLX. Bought used without a factory wedge. Is it possible to add one? Is hull transom structurally sound enough to do this? I read somewhere that some Malibu models had to have a reinforced transom to have a wedge. Note: swim platform has access panel already, but that does not necessarily mean that the boat is built to accept a wedge installed. Thx!

i think if boat was built for a manual wedge, it should be able to take the more modern auto set wedge.  they come available at more reasonable prices when somebody upgrades a newer boat to PW, even new they were not that bad a price including bracket a few yrs ago, no telling now

Yes, it can handle the wedge.  My 1994 Echelon has a manual wedge that was installed in 2006, and it's seen bout 400 hours of use with the wedge down.  Your '06 is definitely strong enough, they didn't differentiate between wedge and non-wedge boats, they all had the same mold.
