new slalom advice

With March just around the corner, I'm beginning to get fired up about the new season.

I've been wanting a slalom ski upgrade.

I'm 150-155 lbs (pretty consistent over the past 5 yrs. or so) and prefer to ski about 29-30

mph. I ski on a public lake and have never had the opportunity to ski the course. Probably

never will, and at 48 yrs. old, probably shouldn't. Plus, I ski behind a V-drive (21 LSV). Still,

I love the sport and would like to get better.

I've been skiing on a 66.5 in. HO Rival for the past 4 yrs. I'm now leaning towards either

a 65 in. or a 67 in. HO Triumph. Tempted to go with the shorter, but not sure if I should.

Any comments appreciated. Should I be looking at other skis? Any recommendations on where

to buy?

Adrenaline Watersports has 2005 HO Triumphs w/ double Venom boots for $329. (Although they only have 67's & 69's). The 67 is recommended for 160-200 pound skiers.

If you have the ability to demo I would highly recommend it. I didn't like the ski that was "recommended" for my level. It's all personal preference. Good luck and enjoy.

I learned to slalom on a Rival and switched to a Triumph with double animals last year. For me it was a great move, the Triumph never felt like it was too aggressive for me and as I have progressed it has kept up. I love my ski. I am not skiing in the course yet but the Triumph is adequate for course skiing. The only thing I will say is that under 30 mph my ski gets a little squirrelly. I usually ski 30-32 and it feets great at those speeds.

Can't help you on the length, I am 240 lbs and use a 71". Most people say its the biggest slalom ski they have ever seen. I got my ski on ebay, previous year's model for just under $200 for the blank.
