I'm a student at the University of Texas at Austin and I'm conducting a research study on boating characteristics. I would really appreciate it if you all could just fill this questionnaire out as much or as little as you want. It would really help our research go a long way! I agree that this new member with 1 post needs to be (at minimum) validated by Tracie or one of the moderators (validated = legitimate) before this person gets any one of us to respond.

This is like somebody walking into a motorcycle club, un-announced, and asking all of us to put down our beer, and explain our life with motorcycles.... then asking our opinion of Ducati's....when we all rumble around on Harley's.

Why? Is he/she thinking of buying a Tige and wants us to do his/her homework?

The more I think about it..... this person has not earned the right to my answers. Period.

I don't think that you are going to offend too many if it seemed like you were really doing a research project. Simply put, it sounds like you are doing research for Tige. If you are infact doing something for a specific manufacturer, just say "I am doing some research for Tige and I would appreciate some opinions." Since you are on a Malibu site I am sure most opinions will be like mine, "Tige's seem ok, but I STILL BOUGHT A BU".

I wouldn't say that asking about a Tige on this site is necessarily out of line. We get plenty of new members show up that are comparing Malibu with other brands & want an opinion. Nothing unusual or wrong with that. But, the manner in which the OP is asking is definitely different.

UT, welcome. I can see that you are indeed in Austin. I would suggest that you put this into the form of a poll, it would be much more appealing to answer - as it is, nobody will be willing to put that kind of personal information out there like that. If you want to know about Tiges, there are some very informative people here & IMO they do a pretty good job of remaining somewhat objective when asked for a fair comparison between brands. Additionally, Tigeowners.com would be a better resource for details about that brand.

I think that you'll find that the members here are very welcoming to new members as long as you're honest & straight up about things. If the membership here feels like they're being played or manipulated at all, then they'll turn on you.

IMO...IF, he would put this up as a poll or some other way to answer without having to identify the person responding, he would have better answers. When you put a space for your name and income level, I throw it in the trash. That's none of your business.

If you would like to have some help with setting it up as an inquiry like that, myself or one of the other Admins/Mods would probably help.

Be aware though that you will not get 100% truthfull answers about another boat model other than Malibu. Most will answer as best they know how. Others will answer with what they have "heard about". This is the internet and MANY people think if they heard it on the internet, it's gotta' be true.

If i'm using my boat, there is a 99% chance that I am pulling a skier and 80% that the skier is me. Is that considered an occasion?
