VTX

I read in previous posts that the new 2007 20' VTX with the cut diamond hull was going to be approved to pull waterski tournaments. I really liked this boat when I saw it at the boat show, and thought it may be a good alternative to an RLxi. But I didn't see it on the AWSA approved list, although CC had a V-Drive approved. Any one hear anything about this? Did Malibu simply not try to get it approved? Just curious.

What difference does it make.. All this AWSA approved stuff is funny.

Just SKI!!

I hear yah. I am not convinced that an ASWA rating is the be all and end all. But I do want a boat that will pull steady through the course, and also pull jump. I am skeptical that a v-drive will do this adequately. I am just curious of what others think, and I am also curious what others know about the cert. process and the VTX. If a v-drive can do it, then I will give it more serious consideration. I am going to an OTW boat show this weekend to test drive both models.

Malibu did not take the VTX (or 20 LSV) to be tested by the group formerly known as AWSA. While I feel that it is a great alternative to the RLXi, and easily pass the tests, I expect it to still be a touch of a compromise from the RLX or RLXi's 3-event capabilities. That said, with a V-drive's gearing it might actually pull jump better.....

Peter. :)

I want to ski it. If it skis as well as a Rlxi, I might be in.

If it will run the course at 28 off, I'm right with you. But not till 08 or 09, I have 1 or 2 years left before I turn.

The 2007 Response and Response LX were not even submited by Malibu for AWSA approuval, so I doubt the VLX would. Seems to me Malibu is putting all their eggs in one basket with the RLXi for their performance series approvals and publicities... kinda sucks IMO.
