2004 23 LSV

I am looking into buying a 2004 23 LSV with a 383 Hammerhead in it. I have heard some conflicting stories on this model verses the newer models. This boat will be used for wakeboading. Thoughts?

The 2004 model boats came with a 380 Hammerhead. That engine had some issues with the heads and valve trains. It was kind of a dog out of the hole but had great mids.

The 2005 model boats came with a 383 Hammerhead, a 6.2L engine, with awesome power. Its been a pretty good engine so far.

If it truly is an 04 and has a Hammerhead 383, than the 380 Hammerhead was yanked as part of warranty, and you would be good to go.

Welcome to the site.

If it's a 2004, then it would have the 350ci 380hp Hammerhead in it. The 383ci 400hp Hammerhead didn't show up until 2005. As for the model, that would be the big difference between '04 & current. The '04 is essentially the same boat as the current WS23' LSV (of course there are differences in options across model years, but the hull is identical).

Doh! Stewart beat me to it. :)

Me being the odd man out...just bought a used 2004 LSV with the 380HP/HH engine. I had the exact same concerns and talked to the Bu rep for an hour and half, the dealer(2-3 of them), the owner, and Indmar. The problems usually presented itself early in the engines life, so if it made it past 20hr or so...then it was said to be a good one. I had Indmar run the background and diagnostics on my HH prior to purchase and it all checked out. No issues, no service problems, no warranty/recall issues. So I jumped on it. My boat came with a 4 blade, 16 pitch and jumps out of the hole just fine. Guess that issue is relative to what you expect and/or are used to.

Best of luck and PM if you have any specific questions I didn't get to.

Like the above post stated, if it didn't have head problems in the first 30 hours, it'll be fine.

If you like the color & the price is good, jump on it, you will love it.
