Water temp reading incorrectly

Recommended Posts

Anyone out there figured out how to calibrate the water temp reading from the Airmar paddle wheel temperature sensor?  New to me 2022 Response TXi water temp reads about 14deg too high.

2021 manual page 75 says "Temperature Offset Touch Temp Offset to adjust the displayed air and water temperatures to match an actual temperature reading."

click the tab "boat specs" at top of page to find manuals but note that the '22 manuals are not there, yet.

Thanks tvano & dalt1.  The adjustment is the same on a 22’ Response as well, offset is applied to air not water.  It’s an annoyance to not know what the water temp is.  You’d think for the $$$ you pay they’d have that worked out by now.

…..shawndoggy, we in the water everyday the wind ain’t blowin gale force.  Some days we ski the mountain in the morning, then ski the lake in the afternoon when it warms up to 40 deg.

They only ever read high. It’s a feature not a bug. Boat is telling you to get in the water already.

Mine worked perfect the first year moving or stopped. After that, it works perfect while moving but as soon as we stop it will climb rapidly 10 to 15 degrees. Dealer says its only an estimate of temp!

They also told me it reads off the Smart depth/temp sensor on starboard side, My research shows it actually reads from the Paddle wheel/temp sensor on Port side.

that seems like a load of BS if you ask me!  “Only an estimate of temperature”.  I confirmed on mine that the sensor is in the paddle wheel AirMar through hull unit.

my water temp reads pretty close until I start moving.  The it’s all over the place but much higher than it should read.
