1996 Sunsetter VLX Hooked battery up backwards

So I was in a rush to switch batteries and get on the lake and hooked the battery up backwards, stupid I know. Anyways as soon as I hook it up backwards my friend hits the key smoke comes from the alternator so I instantly unhook the battery. Give it some time hook back up correctly and boat turns over but no start. Checked 90amp and 50amp fuse. Checked all three fuses under neath the metal panel on front of the motor all were fine as well. The boat is also getting fuel but no spark. Any ideas would be helpful, thanks in advance!

So I’ll admit I have done this. Same set of circumstances in our 2013 response txi. Was in a rush and hooked it up backwards. It fried our 7” control screen and our alternator. Lesson learned for me

Did you verify fuel with a pressure gauge?  Perhaps just listening to the pump run at key on is good enough to verify that the ECM is alive.  If so, the lack of spark may be a fuse or the spark module under the distributor cap.
