Brand new A24 cranks but doesn't start (intermittent)

My dealer is stumped. Could use some pointers as to what to do next.

I took delivery of a custom order 2022 Axis A24 Saturday with a 360hp Monsoon engine. This is not my first surf boat, having owned a MasterCraft NXT20 for the last 5 years.

On the way back to dock from my first surf run Sunday, the boat stalled on me once. I’ve never had a boat stall on me before, but I was willing to write that off as a fluke.

In the middle of the lake Monday, I turned the boat off in between surf runs to change riders and the boat would not start again. It cranked for 7 or 8 seconds and would not turn over several times. Had to call in assistance.

A tech (not a mechanic, but a guy that lake tests the boats before delivery) from the dealer met us in the middle of the lake and ran through a checklist of common issues and found nothing wrong other than the engine refusing to turn over.  He said the fuel pump sounded louder than he’s used to hearing. Indicated he thought something might be wrong with it.

After a few more tries the boat finally managed to start and we headed back to dock without issue. 

They sent a mechanic today. He started the boat without fail a dozen times and took some “diacom” (?) readings to analyze back at the shop. They showed nothing. Dealer doesn't believe it's the fuel pump as they rarely fail and the fuel pressure was within specifications.

Anyone have any idea what’s going on? They are reaching out to Axis, but it's a beautiful week and I want to get out and surf without worrying I'm going to need to paddle a 6000lb boat back to shore with a tiny hand paddle or call in a rescue for a second time.

Maybe check your relays? I had a fuel pump relay fail and it would do similar thing. Just temperature change between running vs idle could be enough for crummy contacts in a harnessbor relay to intermittently work

I would also double check that all power and ground cables are clean and tight at the batteries, the battery switch, the starter, the ground distro block, and at the ground point on the engine block.

This 100%. Engine ground is on the port side below the exhaust manifold.
