the boat was running fine Memorial Day weekend but the ignition switch has been been finicky over the last few seasons (sometimes requiring multiple turns of the key to initiate the starter, sometime just one).  I've pulled and it cleaned it before which helped for a while, but decided to replace it last weekend.  I replaced it home without issue. Bumped the started a fews to be sure it worked but didn't attempt to start it completely since my Fake a lake was at a different location.  I put the boat in the water this weekend it the hopes of having a week of skiing and it will not start (the started turns, but the engine doesn't start and run).  When I turn the key to ON I hear the full pump run and the tach moves a bit.  There is no fuel coming out of the injectors.  I sprayed starting fluid in the throttle body. After a few sprays it made a very short attempt at starting then nothing after that even with repeated sprays. The fuses are good.  None the circuit breakers have popped.  I have only basis tools where I am at but I do have a multimeter.   Motor is a Mercruiser 350 magnum EFI.  Any ideas on where I might start?

I would start by verifying that you actually got all the wires on the key switch correctly.

Thanks, that was my thoughts also, checked and checked again, even put the old switch back on.  No change. (sorry for not mentioning this above)

Perfect.  The next easy thing to check is that you didn't bump the safety lanyard and open the switch.  Make sure you have 12v on both terminals.

Thanks, No safety lanyard on this model/year. Also moved the throttle in and out of neutral numerous times. I'm going back to the ignition wiring (again) but not till tomorrow due to Fathers Day obligations.  Maybe a wire worked loose from the connector??  My boat has 2 purple wires on the ignition terminal of the switch. The diagram I have shows only one and it goes to the Tach. I'm thinking the movement of the Tach means that ones fine.  Not sure where the other one goes but plan to track it down.  Thanks

You didn't say how you determined that no fuel was coming out of the injectors.  You also don't say if it is a TBI or MPI engine.  The first test for fuel is proper pressure on the rail.  Keep in mind that you could be missing spark as well.

At this point it may be best to start from scratch and perform a full tune up (cap, rotor, plugs, and wires) and then begin with the no-start guide that @tvano posted above.

So I thought I would post the solution/resolution.  Once I got the boat out of the bright sun at the lake this turned into an easy fix. As it turns out on my boat there are 3 wires that come of the Ignition terminal of the ignition switch. One goes to the warning buzzer, one to the tach and the other one I didn't bother to track down but I assume it goes to the computer module because this wire had broken were it 90'd into rest of the wires.  I guess 27 years of vibration and me screwing about with it were too much.   Anyway, spliced in a piece of wire and put things back together.  Back on the water again.

THANKS!!! to all who offered advise.   (I was kicking myself as soon as I clipped the wire tie and saw the defect)
