2003 malibu wakesetter engine timing

Recommended Posts

I am trying to set the timing for my 8 cylinder 5.7L? Chevy small block engine, and I don't have the timing spec, or the ECU connector. Ive heard that we can jump a wire an connect a timing light and time it with a timing light.

Does anybody know what the timing spec, and which wires to short/jump for the timing light?

Crank engine.

Jump A to B on the data port connector.

Adjust timing to 10 degrees BTDC by turning the distributor.

Remove jumper.

Kill engine.

thanks for this

do you know were the data link connector is situated? And how many pins are in the connector?

We are able to still buy timing lights just dont use them ever.

Cheers

Data link connector should be a 2X5 (10 pin) MetriPak 150.

You didn't say if your Wakesetter is a vee drive.  On a direct drive it is on the aft port side of the engine behind the manifold.  A vee drive has the engine mounted backward, so it would be forward starboard.
