2010 LSV Wedge Actuator Replacement and Recalibration

Recommended Posts

Well, obviously my wedge stopped working. What’s interesting is the failure mode and the fact I didn’t notice it.

After removing the other one I noticed fractures in that mounting location too. (Did not get photo)

Clearly the reason it stopped functioning!

Another issue I noticed is the cables being chewed. A buddy of mine has his MXZ on the lake and it was muskrats that ate right trough his cables.

Bas*%ds.

What’s really odd. After replacing the actuators, the wedge position indicator would only go from stowed to “max wedge” (right between the red line and largest wave)
Why did this happen? I have the position sensor on the arm of the wedge, there shouldn’t have been any reason to re-calibrate it.

Now the other interesting part. There wasn’t enough adjustment in the cutout to get the calibration within the right readout numbers, DOWN 0-50 and Stowed 400-450.

There were two numbers on the calibration screen, RAW and CALCULATED.

No matter what I did I couldn’t get the DOWN number below 65 raw. So I removed the sensor and moved it one flat. Then I got it down to 5.
At stowed, I had to adjust the sensor to get above 400. But it STILL wouldn’t indicate correctly.

I had to read the instructions from the previous years model for a hint.

After moving the wedge to full down, and entering the calibration mode, I turned the key off.
Then key back on, and went through the calibration procedure and it went flawlessly this time.

Another interesting benefit. The “DEPLOY” button never worked for the wedge, now it does! Bonus.

This may or may not help anyone. Maybe I’m just showing I’m dumb. LOL
