Alternator replacement

We have a 1997 Malibu Echelon. We are fairly certain the alternator needs to be replaced and can’t seem to find the correct replacement. We are not trying to up the amps for anything like a stereo etc. Can’t anyone point us in the right direction?

You can take it to any alternator/starter shop and have it rebuilt. Be sure to tell them 8-9 times it is for a boat and needs to be for a boat. 
 

or go to skidim and buy This 51 amp alternator

Some will chime in with the $75 Chinese amp, I don’t have any experience with that, but  the ski dim one above has worked for me for the last ten years.

Only "firm" advice is please use marine grade starters/alternators, as they are shielded from sparks so you don't go kablammo.

My battery has never been happier since putting in the one at the linked thread and an onboard charger.

Yes, that’s it, I would definitely try the db alternator, every dollar saved is important these days and I have never read of anyone having a bad experience here.
