2002 response lx inoperative fuel gauge

Recommended Posts

Out of winter storage and fuel gauge does not work. Changed the obvious ie. sending unit. Still does not work. Flutters a bit when the key is turned on and then pegs zero. I have replaced the two inline fuses. What is the secret to removing the gauge cluster and how to determine if the gauge is bad? Open to suggestions.

I think 2002 is same as 2003 like mine so just remove the couple of screws and the cluster can be pulled out.

Once done follow the "MMDC Medallion MDC" fault finding threads you'll find on this forum.  A first easy check is swap the cable onto gauges as they're interchangable.
