Water pump bracket - screw head broken off

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what size screw I need to secure the bracket to the engine? The head broke off and I’m removing the remaining screw, but want to try and know the size screw beforehand so I can replace and get on the water. It’s a 2016 23LSV with 450 engine.

If you are talking about the bracket on the side of the pump, mine has been broken since I have owned it.  My pulley was not machined correctly, so the pump wobbles a lot.  The hoses hold it in place just fine with no bolt in the bracket.

How long have you owned it? Had a mechanic tell me that it could fall off at any moment and cost thousands to repair the melted engine block.

It's a 1999 that I bought in 2013.

Heck, if it is going to melt your engine block, try 1/4-20 or 5/16-18.  The bracket should have a rubber grommet to help dampen motion.

The two 1-1/4" hoses on the pump hold it in place pretty well, but I understand the concern.
