Need new ?freeze plugs on exhaust manifold LS1 -- best materials?

Recommended Posts

Hi, what must be freeze plugs are welded into the side of the exhaust manifold on my 2001 Response Corvette/LS1.  There are five per manifold, and they've been progressively corroding and now I see the pink stuff made its way through on a few so  I don't want to start the new season without putting in new ones.  Wondering what would be best for salt water use.  Manifold is cast iron.  These must be aluminum plugs.  New manifolds are around $1,100 each side.  Haven't gotten price from machine shop yet.  Thanks.
