2013 response fuel pump

Recommended Posts

Hi, I need a new fuel pump for a 2013 response txi. The local dealer has no estimate on getting the part. “Could be a month, could be three”. Has anyone had luck with a Napa part equivalent or other online retailer?  I think it is Malibu part #3020517.1. It’s a short season in Wisconsin and really hoping to not wait three months. Thanks!

There's got to be a Carter pump that will replace yours.  2013 should have an in-tank pump.  Do you have access to remove yours?

Yes, in-tank. My small town mechanic didn’t want to open it up until I had the part for him to install it but it sounds like I need to have him do that.  Thanks.

Millenium Industries PN 3617-01

Not sure if there's a cross-reference for that one or not.  Looks like a custom job.  Could probably fab up a different system that uses a traditional external pump and pickup.

The part listed is a Malibu number. Malibu shows out of stock. Bakes drop ships from Malibu.

Yeah, I just posted that link so the OP could see a pic of the pump and the part number from the actual manufacturer.  I'm not having much luck google-fu-ing a Millenium Industries 3617 cross reference.  Looks like MC and Malibu both used Millenium pumps and they're all crazy expensive.  Score another W for the old boats I guess.  My replacement pump last year was $60.

I hear you. This is actually my mom’s boat. I have a ‘98 response and it is so much easier.

Looking at the Bakes picture, the actual fuel pump looks like a basic GM in tank unit.  The pump is mounted in the plastic pail or cup and the cup and top are specific to the tank, in this case probably Moeller.  The more challenging part of the project will be the pump search itself.  Once you have the pump in hand and find the replacement I suggest you go with the AC version and steer clear of the Airtex aftermarket one.

@shmaliski - given you are paying a mechanic to do the work, you will be paying him to disassemble the pump itself, not difficult and generally pretty quick.
