monsoon exhaust manifold removal tips?

Recommended Posts

Going to pull my manifolds off to repair the leaking cast plug. Will inspect the other plugs as I assume more are ready to spring a leak. Any guidance? Youtube didnt show any support for this... Figure its just the 6 bolts and be careful with the hoses and fittings. Any other tips? For install, any tricks to getting good alignment? Should I be ordering new gaskets since I am in there anyways? Any sealing goop or anything needed for the gasket?

What is the torque speck on those 6 bolts for the manifold???

Can you tell I have never messed with a motor more than changing oil or replacing the air filter?

The bolts should come right out.  Replace any that are rusted.  You can use two headless studs to help guide the manifolds back into place.

No gasket used on installation.  You can review the Marine Torq manifold thread to help you get your bearings:

@justgary says he went hang tight... That cant be legit?

Learning wrist tension for various size fasteners could help you in situations where you may not be able to get a torque wrench on some of your bolts....
