Boat Lift Recommendations.

Hello,

Can anyone weigh in on the different boat lift companies? We have an LSV 23 and the dock company asked us to decide between a Hydrohoist (4 month lead time) or a DuraTek lift (4 week lead time). However, I had never heard or had any experience with DuraTek. just looking for a little guidance and would the 6,500 lb. lift be enough? We are in the Nashville area with about 5-6 feet of water depth.

Thanks,

6500 lbs is cutting it close.  dry weight of 5200 plus 400 for a tank of fuel, plus a few hundred pounds of stuff (tubes/safety/jackets/gear/etc) and you are closing in on 6000 lbs.  If you run any lead or tend to have people in the boat when using the lift, you'll be over 6500 quick.

Especially if you think you may upgrade down the road, would be a shame to be lift-limited; i'd suggest at least inquire about cost of the next size up as it may be a small leap for the peace of mind and flexibility for use now or upgrades later.

We use 8000lb (3 toon) Hydrohoist.

Works great even with 850 lbs lead/steel in bow and occasional fail to dump everything.

I don't know if Lifetime Docks in Knoxville will travel to Nashville or not, but they have hoist inventory (or at least they did).  I ordered mine in November and it was installed a few weeks later.  I went with the two tank 6600 lbs lift for my 247, but it's lighter than your 23 LSV.  My dock mate has a 25 LSV and he went with the 8800 lbs lift.  The new 8800 lifts are still a 2 tank set-up but the tanks are bigger.  I think with 5 or 6 ft of water, you should be good to go.

+1 for hydrohoist.

Have a hydrohoist and boat floater currently. I would step up to 8k if funds are avaible. I settled for a 6k due to finding it used. Wait time was also 4 months at the time. Could always go with a 6k as long as it can be upgraded in the future if need be. Toons will be different being a shallow water lift too IIRC

The water actually measures at 4 1/2 feet in the front and 6 in the back of the 12-foot wide slip. The lift guys came out and measured they said I would have a tough time going with standard non shallow water lift. The duratak has a 4-week lead-time and the HydroHoist has a 12–16-week lead-time. So, my options are a 7,000 lb. duratek shallow water or go up to the 8,000 lb. standard duratek lift, keeping in mind it could be tough to get the standard bigger tanks down with my current water depths. I could dredge ($3,500/ boat) or try and push dock out and extend the catwalk? Overall, I think the 7,000 lift would be fine for this boat but for any upgrade in the future id be lift shopping again. Would the 1000 lb. upgrade be worth the hassle and money?

Always go bigger if you can. Incase you upgrade boats down the road.. lifts like boats never tend to go down in price.. and lift capacity upgrades are typically very minimal in comparison to a boat size upgrade

FWIW I have my 2019 23 LSV on a 6500# econolift and it does fine. I can tell its lower in the water than my previous 2007 LSV.  Econolift has great customer service BTW, I had some parts break and called them direct after not hearing back from the local distributor. They changed the design since to avoid the same issues and got me set up in a few days. Would definitely buy a new one if I needed it.
