Boat lagging at full power...

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have an 04 sslxi that seems to be lagging a lot when I give it fuel throttle but then after about 7 seconds or so it seems to go to full power. Also just seems to chug at low speeds and low idle but when I speed got to slalom speeds it ran and sounded great. I did just install perfect pass myself and thought that the throttle link wasn't going full open but it seems to move from close to open just fine....any thoughts? Thanks!

Make sure the PP cabling at the throttle is tight.  I would also start with the easy stuff.  When is the last time you did a full tune-up?  Plugs, wires, cap, rotor.  You'd be amazed how that will bring a boat back to life.  I've seen it many times.

@vl782 - when did the problem start?  Right after PP install?  If yes, does the problem occur when PP is on?  If yes, turn system off and see if that cures it.  PP struggles when throttle position is less than your set speed, it goes in to a sag mode and oscillates until you give it more throttle.  Solution, use PP only when you need it.
