Engine Won't stay running

Recommended Posts

I have a 2012 Response TXI. Went to launch the boat today and the engine would start but not stay running. After it starts the touch screen will go blank and come back on and then the engine will die. I have check the battery leads and they are tight so that is not the problem. Any suggestions where to look? Thanks in advance for the help.

Check voltage, and serp belt.  Tends to indicate loose connection somewhere,  junk batteries or alternator failed.

I'll second the suggestion of loose connection somewhere; they can be hard to find.

To rule out the batteries and alternator, have a voltmeter on the battery immediately after starting and it should read over 13.2 volts if the alternator is charging.  If it's over 16 volts, then could be a bad battery (although, likely would not have started if battery were this bad).
