Snap on travel/mooring cover love hate relationship

When I first bought this used 2015 23 LSV I almost walked away because of the snap on cover.  I couldn’t believe someone would drill over 200 holes in their gel coat and put a bunch of permanent buttons on their boat for a cover.  I don’t think I could ever pay someone to do such a thing.  Now that I have used it and traveled with it I have fell in love with it. I don’t even notice the buttons anymore, everything stays clean and I don’t have to deal with a full cover/wind slap etc.  I am due for another wax/buff soon and again will probably hate having the buttons.
Has anyone else done this.  It probably would work even better if I had it permanently at a lake/on a lift which would make more sense.

I think many of us have seen the snap on covers 15 years down the road and the gel coat has damage from where the snaps pulled out and the cover has similar defects, and the whole thing looks icky.   I think that is the big thing that many of us think of.   Somewhere around here I started a thread about getting a snap on bow cover, I thought it would be great.  It never happened, but it wasn't that anybody talked me out of anything other than what I already mentioned.

One of the dealers in my region puts the snap on every new boat they get into inventory. Can't quite wrap my head it as it would be a deal breaker for me. Some people love it tho

We have a nice travel cover that we use most of the time--the boat stays dry and the topsides are spotless.  We use an old snap cover for overnights at the lake when we have to use a lift/dock.
