Roswell R1 Tower Speakers

A 10" has about 50% more surface area v's an 8" driver, so the larger driver will produce more mid-bass and deeper mid-bass. One has a horn loaded compression driver and will yield more narrow, focused sound at a greater distance, for say, wake range. The other is not horn loaded, so it will have a wider dispersion similar to a traditional tweeter. Sound is always subjective, so which sounds good to one person, may not be the same for another person.

I disagree. The stated 200W RMS is right in line with a handful of other 8" HLCD. There are a few 8" coaxials rated at 150W rms.

Their subs wattage rating are right along in line with other brands and have been professionally tested to not hold the stated power.

@23LSVOwner The OP is discussing tower speakers, so thats what my comment is in reference to. Also, I do not know who the "professionals" are, what specific woofer or woofers were tested and how they were tested. As with the build specs of an 8" HLCD tower speaker, I do not see the RMS and PEAK wattage rating being overstated on any woofers.

I am coming from a 2018 23 lsv that had 2 Rev 10s with factory amp. I now have a 2021 g23 with R1 tower speakers. I was hesitant at first and toyed with the idea of selling the roswell set up because I did not think anything would top wetsounds ability to carry over distance since they are horn loaded but I have been more than satisfied with the R1s. I can easily hear them while wakeboarding and volume is rarely turned all the way up which was necessary having 2 REV 10s. The R1s are as loud as can be tolerated by anyone in the boat with 0 distortion at max volume. I would buy roswell over wetsounds based on my last two boats but this isnt a fair comparison if you consider my previous wetsounds were paired with the factory malibu amp that cannot be tuned and is underpowered. My R1s are also paired with higher powered roswell amp installed by roswell marine. I cannot speak on how they would sound side by side with equal power but R1s they seem to be less harsh sounding highs compared to Rev10s when volume is turned up. The R1s lighting is also a bonus that I prefer over speaker rings you see with most wetsounds set ups

Wetsounds are great when properly tuned and powered but 90% of the time they are not. Nautique does a very good job for factory audio, good sound and a decent amount of base.

I agree and I have nothing bad to say about my previous malibu set up. Everything was great, I just wished it would have been louder on a few occasions. I cannot really speak on nautique's factory set up, the previous owner of my boat is owner of planet nautique and has his boat delivered to roswell from factory to allow them to install all audio and lighting. They made a video for the install

I'd bet if you were patient you could reach out to the folks at uptice and explain your needs, that they could make you something nice too.

Oh awesome!!

I wonder how much of a difference this makes. I wouldn’t be opposed to cutting fiberglass to add this.
