2004 Wakesetter Trying to add a new stereo with Bluetooth

Hey first time asking a question here,

I have a 2004 Wakesetter VLX with what I believe was the original stereo taken out of it. There is an extra control cable that needs to be installed that goes to the smaller circular control unit. They don't make the same port in the back of any modern head units these days (or so I was told). Question is do I need to use the smaller control unit? Is there a way to bypass the wire input? Or am I better off just replacing both of the units in the boat to make sure it works correctly?

Do you "need" to use a wired remote? No, but they can be convenient if the media unit is located under the flip up arm rest or while sitting on the swim platform.

Its even deeper then not having the port on the back of any newer units, wired remotes are proprietary and only work with that manufacture's unit. They are typically generational also. So Even a newer unit thats the same manufacturer as your old remote, would not be supported.

In closing, ignore whats there and look at the boat as a blank slate.

I'm still rocking the same stereo and 4 speakers I in back in 04. The cd that is in it is also the only cd that has ever been in the stereo. I have no idea if it would actually come out of the stereo if I tried to eject it.
