Self-closing quick connect for ballast fill

Hey Crew!  I'd like to add a walkway ballast bag for the times when we are lighter on boat crew.  I've been searching but am coming up dry.  What I am trying to be able to do is keep things clean and just be able to lay the bag down in the walkway and snap a hose into a connector that is fed by a reversible pump.  I'm picturing the door for our battery switch that I could open and just connect up to.  The problem is, I want to make sure that the connector is essentially closed like a ball valve would be to keep water from leaking out everywhere or pumping into the boat if someone accidentally hit the switch.  Make sense?  Have you guys seen anything like that ?  It is almost like a safety valve that closes as soon as you disconnect.

I hide my hose under the gunnel and have a switch under my helm.  This set up didn't require me to drill any holes.

A quick bump of the switch shouldn't cause too much water (if any) to pump into the boat if your hose is long enough.

I've got a 3 way ball valve on my ballast setup that is normally connecting my reversible pump to the bag in the ski locker.  In the other position it feeds a shot hose with a ballast quick connect on it.  When we setup for surfing we pull out a hose that connects to that quick connect and then plumbs into the two on-floor bags.  It works the way you are describing and allows me to share my pump with two different areas in the boat, while shutting off the open hose during normal non-ballast use.  I looked forever for a high flow quick connect (like a big air compressor fitting) that is panel mountable but never found anything quite like what I wanted.

This is the one I am thinking about

I think that would work fine functionally but it could increase the fill time (reduce flow).  I tried hard to make sure all my hose and fittings were a true 1".  That's a 3/4" fitting but I'm curious what the fluid port size actually is.  Too bad there's no mechanical drawing.

It shows as 50 gal per hour.  It is just for a walkway bag.  nothing too crazy large.  I suspect my rear tanks and PNP bags will still be the long pole in the tent.  Thoughts?

Doesn't 50 gallons per hour mean that it would take an hour to fill a 400lb bag (8lbs a gallon x 50 gallons = 400lbs)?  That seems crazy slow.

It is actually rated at 50 gallons per minute, but that is probably at the rated 3,600 PSI pressure.  Anyway, you could probably get 50 gallons of water through it in much less than an hour with the right pump.
