2021 t23 trailer winch

Mine failed after about 10 uses. Contacted the manufacture of the winch.  He was floored that they put a 1500 lb winch on my boat.  I bought a larger one and replaced myself. Anyone else have that problem?

I’ve replaced every winch with the F2 Fulton  2 speed winch. The base one that comes with the trailer is a POS.  If you winch your boat on the trailer verses powering it on, you’ll need to upgrade.

1500lb winch for these heavy boats makes no sense at all. We haven’t upgraded ours yet because we have a Ramp N Clamp but I’m considering moving back to standard bow roller. I worry that using ramp n clamp could damage the transmission on my truck… don’t want parking pin to fail. If we switch back, we’ll need to upgrade winch.

The other thing that makes no sense is the fact that there aren’t better options available for trailer bunk coverage when you do a build. Gatorbak (or something similar) should be an upgrade option. Gelcoats changed in 2007, I believe, and are much more susceptible to blistering now, especially where hull rests on wet carpeted bunks if boat lives on trailer. We recently swapped out carpet for Gatorbak to prevent that from happening. Bunk boards last longer without carpet too.
