service engine light

Recommended Posts

Just bought a 2008 lvs247 with the hammerhead motor.   Boat is running great until i go WOT and about 30 seconds it shuts down power and i get the service engine light.

Good oil pressure and right at 160 deg.   Shut boat off , restart and back to full power but service light still on.   Any ideas ??

thanks for your help !!!

See if you have any diagnostic trouble codes to point you towards the possible cause of the service required alarm.

Use the arrow buttons on the dash info center to go to setup, press E, arrow down to Service, press E, arrow down to Fault Codes, and press E.

Active and inactive codes should have a SPN and FMI number that can be referenced in the diagnostic manual.

A fault that only occurs at WOT (wide open throttle) will likely be a misfire, pedal postion, or throttle position issue.

The service required alarm can be cleared using diagnostic software like Rinda Diacom, or will clear after the engine is run through 3 complete heat cycles without the fault reoccurring.
